View Full Version : DFW Ridding afpatty 09-26-2008, 07:02 AM I am in North DFW and was looking to some ridding this weekend. If any one is interested in hooking up, let me know. I have been ridding solo and would like to do meet other 599 riders. Transient 09-26-2008, 07:38 AM The DFW riders only look at the Texas thread, I swear. I might be up for it. Training all week has my energy kinda screwed up. :P afpatty 09-26-2008, 07:47 AM Texas rules! Let me know. I feel like ridding against the wind. It would be nice if we coud get some female riders also. Like to see a girl on a 599. motorico 09-26-2008, 01:48 PM I'd be interested depending on the day as Sunday works better for me. afpatty 09-26-2008, 02:17 PM Sunday would actually be a good day. Morning to mid-afternoon. carlitos_92 09-26-2008, 02:55 PM Definitely maybe. I can't have Tranny showing up and me being absent, since I'm up +1 on him now. Then again, I got chores to do at home... afpatty 09-26-2008, 03:07 PM Good. The more the better. Hopefuly we can get together. Transient 09-26-2008, 03:27 PM Then again, I got chores to do at home... Sounds like you need to trade in that cargo net for an apron, Sally. motorico 09-26-2008, 04:07 PM They could be manly chores, like chopping firewood or skinning a moose. Scratch that, skinning a moose is a girly chore now. carlitos_92 09-26-2008, 06:48 PM Then again, I got chores to do at home... Sounds like you need to trade in that cargo net for an apron, Sally. Pppppphhhttt. At least I still ride when I have a tummyache. Anyway, Sally is my middle name and nobody calls me that anymore. Transient 09-26-2008, 09:23 PM Pppppphhhttt. At least I still ride when I have a tummyache. Anyway, Sally is my middle name and nobody calls me that anymore. Speaking of shitting my pants for a week, I just got the doctor bill. "No copay" apparently means "We bill you for it later." Yay. afpatty 09-27-2008, 04:40 PM Hey ladys. I am riding tonight at 7:30pm. Do any of you know any places for bikes to hang-out? The only one I know is Duke's but thats more of a Harley place. motorico 10-01-2008, 10:14 AM Any interest in a ride this weekend? afpatty 10-02-2008, 08:31 AM I dont think I will beable this weekend Transient 10-02-2008, 01:12 PM Considering a ride up on FM455. Got a fella at work who rides much harder than I'm used to wanting to make a run at it in a few weeks - I'd prefer to get up there a few times so that I'm familiar before pushing it. carlitos_92 10-02-2008, 08:01 PM Any interest in a ride this weekend? A 40% chance for me. What'd you have in mind? And a bonus question: any of you fellas have tolltags on your bike? Where'd you put it? motorico 10-02-2008, 08:18 PM I wasn't certain what the ride would be yet. Something with FM-something or other that has some twisties. I have a toll tag. It's in my tail on the left side. NTTA has my tag # so they can bill me if they get my tag on camera and the tag doesn't get read. It has been read in that position so I know it works. Incidentally, if you go to 4 toll tags, they start billing you at $80 instead of $40 increments. Transient 10-02-2008, 09:32 PM FM455... FM455... I don't have a tolltag. Hadn't thought of a subtle way to do it. :-/ carlitos_92 10-03-2008, 11:10 AM I wonder if you could put it in the CE back armor pouch in a jacket. I only have one jacket and always wear it... Transient 10-03-2008, 11:13 AM I have a toll tag. It's in my tail on the left side. NTTA has my tag # so they can bill me if they get my tag on camera and the tag doesn't get read. It has been read in that position so I know it works. So wait. It's actually inside - underneath the seat? Trying to get the picture. Having a big honkin' tag hanging off the bike has made me hesitate. carlitos_92 10-03-2008, 02:00 PM Since I asked the original question, I've since received the tag I ordered last week for the bike. They're using stickers now; it's a little smaller than the usual tag, but I still wouldn't know where to stick it. Not a whole lot of good flat surfaces that are inconspicuous. Oh, and they say it can't be within an inch or so of anything metal. Damn - so the engine case is out. motorico 10-03-2008, 04:16 PM I have a toll tag. It's in my tail on the left side. It's actually inside - underneath the seat? Trying to get the picture. Having a big honkin' tag hanging off the bike has made me hesitate. Exactly. I figure if it can work through glass, what's a bit of ABS? Transient 10-03-2008, 09:40 PM Route I'm looking at is: North on 423 to 380. West on 380 to 377. North on 377 to 455. West on 455. Can take 455 to 35 and back from there, making it probably about an hour and a half, or further to 1173 and round back from there, making it about two and a half hours and just under a hundred miles. carlitos_92 10-04-2008, 06:42 AM Route I'm looking at is: North on 423 to 380. West on 380 to 377. North on 377 to 455. West on 455. Well, you must not be looking at it too seriously, or else you would've posted a link to Google Maps. :P Sunday morn? You are forewarned... I had to ride in a drizzle yesterday and my baby is filthy. Transient 10-04-2008, 06:55 AM Sunday morn? You are forewarned... I had to ride in a drizzle yesterday and my baby is filthy. Was thinking today. Mine's dirty as hell, too. I can push it off if it's the difference between rockin' it alone or not, though. I wanted to post a link to Google Maps, but it wasn't giving me a proper URL to link to. So voila. Transient 10-04-2008, 10:03 AM Today is postponed at least till tomorrow. In paying my bills and poking around a bit, I realized that I've been riding sans proof of insurance and my insurance card was mailed to the wrong address. But I did get my toll tag ordered. carlitos_92 10-06-2008, 09:42 PM So there's this (http://www.motorcycleshows.com/motorcycleshows/static/staticHtml.jsp?id=358885), November 14-16. Seems steep at $13, but I think there is a discount if you order online. We should still get together and go. Saturday? Sunday? P.S. I'm out of group rides until about then, anyway. Too much trabajo. :? Black Eye 10-16-2008, 09:30 PM Regarding Toll Tag usage. Just have it on the bike somewhere, under the seat, or on your person. The important thing is that you have the bike registered for toll useage. This is primarily if you get stopped. I have mine under the seat and just go through the toll. It rarely if ever gives me the green light. The video cross references with my plate and deducts accordingly with no problems. The folks at NTTA have come to expect this with motorcycle riders as the tags rarely read, no matter where mounted/placed on your bike. | |
