Just turned forty and figured it was time for a motorcycle! Never been on one?? Enrolled early summer to take the MSF in September so I could ponder bikes for the summer. Looked at the usual suspects and hadn't heard of the 599, my wife was telling me about a bike one of the principles at her firm had, the hornet.

I fell for the 599 immediately! It is everything I was looking for! Took the MSF and have gotten endorsed a month ago. Started looking for a bike, my first post here. Missed out on a couple, not he easiest bikes to find, saw a 2004 asphalt black with 7k on craigslist at 1:30, bought it at 4!!

That was two weeks ago and been riding the s%it out of it (like an eighty year grandma) every minute I get!

Hit a parking lot tonight and just practiced the slow stuff! Love those u-turns! Well I have thoroughly enjoyed the forum and have learned lots all ready! Looking forward to contributing!

Looks like a long wet winter and can't wait for mods (I hope my wife’s not reading this)! I already have a plan!!

Cheers!

Michael

Welcome Michael! It's going to be the longest winter ever! I got my 599 last November 20, I thought Spring would never come.

Hopfully it will be a mild winter! Last year I beleive we broke the all time snow record in the northwest??

Its going to be a challange not to spend my kids college fund on all the mods I want, starting with the blueflame can.. Oh yea I already spent thier college fund buying the bike! :D

I heard 40 is the new 30, and as a recently-turned-30, I can tell you, that 30's aren't bad.

Welcome Michael! (And thank for for your kind words about the forum.)

Glad you found us. I imagine riding Mt Reiner (sp?) must be pretty amazing.

"Hello childrens!"

Yea Mt. Rainier is a large piece of dirt and I can't wait to take the bike up next summer to Sunrise (as far as you can go on asphalt)! I believe you can get up there in August without running into snow.

Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome to the site Michael, as a 44 yo former seattleite I know how short the riding season is. but when you can ride it is a beautiful place to explore. I was out there in august and did the Sunrise ride, my brother let me use his vfr (I want one now) it was beautiful up there, but I thought the Chinook pass ride was better (and free) you can get up there by mid june easy....keep the rubber side down, and enjoy the new ride
