I've been following this forum a bit here and there, and decided to finally drop in and introduce myself.
I started riding almost exactly a year ago, after purchasing an '06 nighthawk black 599 [as with most great stories, to help me forget about a woman ]
195
Learned how to ride on her, during the winter in illinois, which was kinda harsh, but since I was still new and excited, I was still out at least once a week! And as the temperature rose, so did my skill level, so I was more than happy and prepared once spring finally rolled in.
I love this bike to death, although I have no way to compare, but as a beginner bike I'd say it was almost perfect. Great seat angle, more than enough power, but with responsibility comes control. And I didnt fully lay into the throttle until I had the bike for almost half a year. Thats when i realized that this machine is almost ideal.
I'm not much for modding, and the concept of track days still kindof stikes a bit of fear into me, but I enjoy the long open road. After grabbing some saddle-bags mid-summer, I've already been on a few trips out of Illinois and have been very happy so far. Mostly b/c the great balance in comfort and power on this bike.
Anyway, I think i've gone on long enough, im starting to feel like an old man w/ his fishing tales, hope to learn much from hear, and ill try to add my $0.02 whenever i find it beneficial.
