View Full Version : Greetings from Texas!!!
honda freak 02-19-2009, 08:21 AM Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum, but not new to the Honda 599. This is my second one. I used to own a 2004 in yellow. It was an excellent bike, but I fell in love with a Ducati 1098 and used it as my trade in. Well, I have since sold the 1098. It was an excellent bike too, but not as practical as the 599, so here I am again with another 2004 599 in asphalt. Bought it from a good friend on this site. Anyways, just dropping to say Hello! :) Anyone else from the DFW area?:thumbsup

Transient 02-19-2009, 10:44 AM Welcome to the site! I wonder if your old '04 was the one that I used to see (and haven't for quite some time) in the area. I love mine. ;)
Interesting the jump to the 1098 and back again, too. Welcome!
honda freak 02-19-2009, 10:58 AM Yup, The 1098 was a beautiful bike and really lived up to it's reputation as a monster, but I just didn't ride it much. I also had a 2006 Honda VFR800 which I rode more often. I sold off the bikes in October of 2008 to lessen my financial exposure as I was purchasing another home and still had my old home. I didn't really plan to buy another bike for a while until my friend "Blackeye" mentioned he was selling his......so I bought it. My wife thinks I'm :crazy and I got a lot of (and still am) :rantfor the purchase.
motorico 02-19-2009, 11:19 AM Welcome to the board and thanks for the assist in shifting the demographic in a more northern direction.
1098 to a 599, wow, what a change. I'd have been tempted by a Monster or GT1000 from Ducati.
carlitos_92 02-19-2009, 12:55 PM What up, freak? :)
Motorico, did we ride with Black Eye that day, or was that someone else?
yeroC 02-19-2009, 02:35 PM 'Sup honda freak!! Welcome! DFW stock is rising. You guys have a veritable swarm now.

Honestly, I really liked my yellow one better, but the asphalt one I have now matches with everything I already have.

Yea, 1100 cc Monster at $15,000. with 80 or 90 hp.... some street fighter ???? All show and no go. The Triumph speed triple is $9500. and has 125 hp +.

The actual Streetfighter model, as of yet unreleased, is 155 HP. The Monster lineup is made to a different taste than either the Streetfighter or Speed Triple.

And is just the reason the US is going bankrupt. Value added just because of the name and not because of the value it has.
"Value Engineering is a method to improve value and service by an examination of function. Value is the ratio of function to cost. Value can therefore be increased by either improving the function or reducing the cost."

Correction......The US is bankrupt. We've been going bankrupt for a few years now. We just finally got there. Kinda sucks, but such is life. It's a cycle. We'll get back on our feet again.
I like the looks of the Ducati. It's an incredibly sexy bike, even if it is out performed by many others out there. I'll never be able to ride them up to the level they are designed to perform anyways, so looking good will have to do. On the other hand, I like all bikes.:thumbsup

The only problem with the Monster, "Its only the Monster not a real Ducati." Its a Porsche Boxter " not a real Porsche". Its a Harley 883 sportster " not a real Harley". Who wants to get caught up in that. Some people have their heads up their ass and its hard to deal with. Sometimes its best to avoid the situation and go the other way.
Honda does make a great vehicle. I have two. Cant say "its not a real HONDA" ! !

LOL....I definately have to agree with your statement. I've owned six Honda's now and never had a problem with anyone of them. They are also much more affordable to maintain. Ducati dealers really know how to stick it to ya when it's maintenance time. Actually, any dealer is good at that!:?

An official :welcome to you!
