New-in-box Ohlins rear shock for the '04 599. I picked it up last year direct from Ohlins with the intention of doing a suspension overhaul this year, but several emergencies in the last few months have hit pretty hard.

Model is the the best one offered for our bikes: HO 541.
It features complete adjustability and can be rebuilt.

I need money to pay off debt. Pricing I found online ranged from $920 from several sites to one site running a special on a similar model for the CBR900 for $780.

New in box; asking $600 shipped.

I'm crying. There's no way I can afford that right now, but would sooooooo be all over that were "times a little better."

Yes, it is, and I don't know. The '06 shock is a different model number with slightly different specs - including a lack of "length" adjustibility. Take a look at Ohlins.com and maybe someone at the UK site knows?

I WOULD BE REAL INTERESTED IF IT FIT THE 06 HORNET. If you find out more info on specs please post. Hope things get better for you out there.

I'm shooting an e-mail off to Ohlins to see if they know. I'd be a bit surprised if it wouldn't work, as the specs are remarkably similar, but stranger things have happened.

Reply from Ohlins -

"They appear very similar, however, the clevis at the bottom of the shock looks like it is 2mm different in width. We could modify the shock to fit. Parts look to be about $100 plus a ½ hour labor $45. Might not be a bad time to have it serviced as well. Let me know if this would be a possibility for you, and I can let you know how to proceed."

Does Ohlins make a rear shock specifically for the 06 model? I don't think I've ever seen one.

Yes, they do. It's similar to the model that I have, though it lacks adjustable length like mine.

Thanks to Transient for tracking down that very useful information from Ohlins.

Thanks for finding out more about this awesome looking shock. I think it would be better off not tinkering with it to fit my 06 though. I will just have to keep squirreling my pennies away for a new one. I'm sure there is somebody out there looking for this gem.Good Luck!

Chalk that up to one more broke college student. If its still for sale in late May/early June, I'll probably buy it.

It probably will be, as there's no raise or bonus in my near future. :P

For the love of pee, somebody buy this shock or I am gonna have to. It looks better all time. Damn you weak Canadian dollar, if only GWB was still running things our dollar would be worth more and I could justify it.

How much of a difference would this make anyways.... I mean really...if you are some dude like me who has his GF on the back most of the time anyways.

Honestly, you're going to want to do front and back. The difference ought to be pretty huge. Only folks I know of running an Ohlins rear currently are on the UK forum. :P

Someone buy it, run it until it needs servicing, and sell it to me for cheap...

Is the shock still for sale? I'm wanting to do suspension this summer, and this would be a nice start :)

I'll see what I can do after I win the lottery.
