So, I finally was able to get my bike out last weekend...the best feeling of the whole year. I have an odd set up my bike spends the winter in my basement(my house is a split level) and in order for it to get there I have to ride through a little bit of my yard. Thus far this year there have been two or three other days that I could have ridden it, but due to wet ground and mud I can't ride it out. I decided that I was not going to skip another day. So I went to the local Menards and picked of a 12 foot section of 2 x 12. Oh it worked flawlessly, I laid the board from my brick patio over to my side driveway about 11 feet or so. The first time I get the bike out no problem drive right over the soft ground and take off up the driveway. Then Sunday roles around and against the weatherman's odds no rain, so I try again. Long story short I come off the end of the board with the front wheel turned a little and sure enough there is just the right amount of dirt on the ground that when the tire hits it slides out from underneath. Now I have an 04 with 3000 miles and one trip to the ground. Lucky thing for me is I was going slow and had put on Givi crash bars and the only thing to actually get hurt in the whole wreck was the brake handle. It now has a little more of an inward bend...not too bad cause I just picked the bike up collected my thoughts and still went for the ride.

The good thing is that it made me ride way more cautious than I had the day before. Not that I ride crazy, but I was taking turns faster and rushing through traffic. Well, I am happy to say that Givi makes an awesome crash bar that is worth their weight in gold.

Glad to hear the crash bars did their job! Low speed spills usually seem to hurt the ego more than anything. If nobody is around, they are a great learning experience! Luckily I haven't had to test my frame sliders... yet.

Oh, I could see that comin' in your description. Good thing for your crash bars! Maybe a little wider wood next time? Good to know that your Givi crash bars did the job.:clap

Any spectre of witnesses?

I'm glad to hear that! I feel partly responsible for the save after selling those crash bars. Try not to test them out anymore though!

Yeah pdibsie I think you should get a warm fuzzy feeling knowing those crash bars saved my bike...LOL. Thanks for selling them to me, I would hate to see what would have happened had they not been on the bike.

Haha I hope you know I don't feel at all personally responsible for your well-being, I think all the credit goes to you for pursuing them. I'm very glad to hear that they worked so well though!

Gotta love the Givi bars. I love mine, for a similar reason. :)
