This was only a near-accident, not by me, but by the cager trying to agitate me a few days ago.

I'm on 95 North between the airport and downtown Philly. Cruising along minding my own business til a couple hillbillies in an old, beatup red Ford pickup truck decide they want to ride along my side. I'm not a big fan of vehicles riding to my side (either pass me, or don't) so I twisted my wrist and left them in the dust.

Jersey shore traffic soon came near the Walt Whitman bridge and I found that pickup truck right behind me in the stop and go. He decided to rev his engine a few times (maybe he thought I was showing off earlier or maybe he wanted to pull out his measuring stick?), but I didn't give him the satisfaction of a reaction. I was in the far left lane, and staying on the right third of the lane. Unfortunately, I left plenty of room to allow an envious driver to pass me with the help of the shoulder on the left.

As soon as the truck driver saw a break in the traffic, he floored it on the shoulder, passed me, then looked back to see my reaction (I had none). Unfortunately for him, as he was laughing at me and looking back, the traffic stopped ahead of him and his friend yelled at him...STOP! He jammed the brakes and was only inches away from hitting the car in front of him.

I hope he learned his lesson, don't mess with a hornet! I'm also glad I kept my cool, who knows what would have happened if I played along. I'm smart enough to know that a battle between a bike and a truck is not a good idea. BTW, I wear a mirrored visor, so it's kind of tough to see a reaction from me especially with my hands on the clutch and throttle in traffic :-)

Yeah... Just don't drive angry. Stuff like that makes ME angry sometimes, so I'm talking to myself.

That was a great story. I like the near collision better than him hitting an innocent cager, but I think (hope) he learned a little something.

Doubt it... they were probably laughing when they stopped. There are more people out there doing dumb shit on purpose than you'd think...
