I had an interesting experience tonight that I thought I'd share. I was coming up to a red light and I could see a couple of sportbikes approaching in the opposite direction. Even though I was in my car, I was looking at the bikes, trying to identify them. By the time the light turns green, one of the sportbike guys turns onto the sidewalk and hops off. I look into the intersection and realize that the cars turning left in the cross street have managed to get in a 3-car pileup pretty much directly in front of me WITHOUT ME NOTICING! Anyway, everyone looked to be OK, and since I didn't actually see the accident happen, I just kind of left.
A couple of thoughts:
1) It's really creepy realizing that you can be so distracted that you don't notice something like that. Granted, I had the radio on and the A/C cranked up, but still . . . .
2) CBR guy (I'm claiming this one for Honda) was totally geared up in leathers and everything and was out in the intersection making sure everybody was all right. Some good PR for bikers, and just goes to show you, not all sportbikers are thoughtless hooligans (particularly the ATGATT ones).
