Could a CBR 1000 engine (2006) be fitted to a 919 chassis? Would this be out of the question, difficult, or a pretty basic swap?

With so different frames, I bet making new engine mounts would be way too much work. CBRs are easy to find for good prices, anyway.

The CBR900RR is what the engine came from, so that should be an easy swap, worth ~20hp.

No doubt. A motor swap is just labor-prohibitive... unless you really, really like doing that kind of thing. If you really want to do it, I doubt a 2006 1000RR will work. Like Iowa said, you'll need a 900RR - I think 96 to 99-ish.
