View Full Version : Fatal Accident
n2citrus 01-03-2010, 06:58 PM Found out yesterday that a friend of mine was killed Friday afternoon on his 1000RR. Apparently he was going too fast for a turn, dropped the bike and went headlong into oncoming traffic. The article is below. He had a wife and two daughters (19 & 21). Terrible way to start the year. Drive safe everyone!

THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER
A 53-year-old Porterville man died Friday afternoon in a motorcycle accident.
His name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
At about 3:35 p.m., the man was driving east on Mountain Road 137, west of Road 296, when the road curved to the right and he lost control of the motorcycle. It overturned as it traveled across oncoming traffic, and off the north shoulder of the highway, according to a report from the California Highway Patrol.
He was ejected off the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries.
The CHP is still investigating the cause of the collision.

clicketysplit 01-04-2010, 09:05 AM Sorry to hear about this. What a terrible tragedy -- and at 53 one would imagine he was an experienced rider. For those of you still riding through the winter remember there is no shame in riding well under the boundaries of your skill level on public streets -- save the speed for the track.
motorico 01-04-2010, 11:23 AM Sorry for your and his family's loss.
carlitos_92 01-04-2010, 07:14 PM Sorry to hear this Michael. Let's be careful out there, kids.
honda freak 01-04-2010, 10:53 PM WOW! Very sorry to hear about your loss Michael. I lost a very good friend last August too. He was also 53 yrs old and very experienced. In his case, an 88yr old lady made a left in front of him.
We'll be keeping your friend in our prayers.
Ride safe folks!
WEELEEZ 01-04-2010, 11:25 PM Condolence...
Ride safe guys. :|
n2citrus 01-05-2010, 03:28 PM Thanks everyone. Looks like speed was the contributing factor...going way too fast for the turn, lost control and went over an embankment. It was a case of exceeding his abilities.

Sorry for your loss, and it really sucks that it was completely unnecessary.
It's always tragic even if it was mostly his fault. Hopefully his family will be OK.
n2citrus 01-10-2010, 02:26 PM I have an update. Apparently there was a witness who actually saw the crash, and came forward right after this happened. There was a pickup going the opposite direction, that cut the corner, and clipped the bike before it left the road. The CHP found the truck, which was reported stolen, but are still looking for the driver, who is MIA. The truck actually has paint from the bike scraped across the length of it, so this actually vindicates my friend, as it now appears he did nothing wrong. The early reports were apparently just speculation, as the second rider was too far back to witness the crash.

djamalt 01-12-2010, 11:30 PM Wow man. I'm speechless.
pdibsie 01-20-2010, 03:56 PM I hate to see this, but maybe it will help the family with their grieving to know that he wasn't in the wrong. I hope they can find the driver at some point; I don't understand how people can live a life with no integrity. RIP.
