Re: I'm going to miss you all

Iím really interested in the CB1000. When my wife was showing some interest in learning to ride, I was strongly considering picking up the 1000 and 300. With the XSR900 and Indian FTR1200 also...

Re: Track Day

I crashed the 599 a few times, almost lost the VFR at least twice. Never badly hurt, no big deal, lessons learned. It sucks to mess up a pristine bike, but it's not a huge deal, they're just bikes....

Everyone. High mount exhaust that exits right at the low-pressure area behind your back. I never minded it.

Re: What bikes have y'all moved on to?

Kind of jealous of the R NineTs and the XSR900. I'd love to have both. The XSR900 is what I was going to buy when I went to get a new bike, but I didn't want to wait for it and thought a V4 would be...

Re: Engine cold start needs throtle

I can't remember exactly, but I know my startup and choke adjustments were different for hot and cold weather. My hot routine wouldn't work in cold and vice-versa. Don't know why the air filter would...

Re: How was your ride today?

Certain Beatles songs will cue my nostalgia for my first ride. Nighttime, around LSU, cool night air, feeling like I was flying at a whopping 35 MPH. Dropped it that night, too. Turning right from a...

Re: How to carrying a duffle bag and a backpack?

I used a bungee net that I found at Cycle Gear. It had metal hooks, which I removed, and used the hooks on the seat in whichever hole fit my load. I could carry just about anything with it, from a...

Light Maintenance 599 2006

If your engine was ever running below 170, except maybe a few degrees lower in very cold weather, you've got a problem with your thermostat. 140s are definitely wayyy too low. 200 isn't abnormal,...

I can't load it on Tapatalk, but it looked a lot like a bike someone from wristtwisters built and sold years back, including USD forks and a 2006 599 headlight.

Re: Headers exhaust gasses leak?

I would replace the gasket and use a torque wrench when retightening. Exhaust leaks are usually gaskets or joints.

Look for tire manufacturer rebates. I think Bridgestone is doing $50 right now on some models, VFR guys are getting sets for $190.

Really cool car! Not often you see cars that old that aren't hot rodded. Good that it'll take minimal work to get it back on the road as well.

Re: Looking for a 2006 or higher 599

They were imported only in 2004 and 2006. CB600F is the official model designation. Hornet 600, 599, CB599 (never really hear that one) are all the same thing.

Wait 5 or 6 more years and maybe you...

20% power gain is pretty impressive, even more so assuming that, after having been around here for 9 years, you probably didn't tear much into the motor.

Thanks. I'm loving it, the noise is still intoxicating. Blipping the throttle on downshifts is just as beautiful as making her scream. I do occasionally long for a lightweight naked, though.

Just noticed your buddy's is the 959, it was a 1299 that I saw. The guy rides around on slicks and usually has some track day damage. Never seen a 959, but they are lusty machines.

I know age is a factor (I'm 28 now, I was 19 when I bought the 599), but it's half of what I paid for the 599. It's a sport tourer, likely less often crashed as it appeals less to the high school and...
