Fabricating side racks for a set of Gigi V35's, top case will be a 46. Yes, it's in my kitchen.

I'm in Palm Beach, so I have to go to Key West first to make it legit.

You definitely won't lose your license plate.

The license plate holder has to be a structural part of the rack, this was the second one I had to make because the first one didn't allow the built in light to illuminate the plate, which I think is illegal

So you're really taking a road trip from Florida to Alaska. I wondered at first if you were maybe just moving home. Oh man, this is going to be epic. Very jealous.

Yeah, between prepping the bike and gearing up with both the clothing and all the ultralight camping equipment, it's a lot more expensive than I had thought. Putin' me in the poor house is what this trip is doing.

Putting yourself in the 'life is for living' house more like.

3 1/2 months maybe. I have to leave around May 15th as its recommended to be on the Cassier highway by June 1st. Cassier is said to be more scenic, rural, winding. Maybe I'll come back on the Alcan, I don't know. I'll be taking a counter clockwise route and will try to cross Canada above the Great Lakes if possible. My uncle from D.C. wants to ride a thousand or so miles with me up into Canada on a new monster Harley he got. On the way back I'll travel highway 1 down through WA, OR and CA to mom's in Palm Springs and then meet a buddy with a touring BMW at the Grand Canyon, then back roads to his house in Denver. Sister in Galveston, then back to FL. Should be back home Sept. 1st - 8th. If anyone wants to ride I welcome the company.

Are you talking about the mods, or the run you are making? Is Key West to Alaska a recognised run? Does it have a name?

There is web site alaskabikerun.com that runs from middle/northern Florida to Alaska every year I think. They stay in hotels from what I gather and don't go all the way to the Arctic Ocean. I figured if I'm going to do it then why not go from furthest point to furthest point. I will stay in hotels rarely, camping is mostly fun and a lot cheaper.

It's going to be a great trip!

If you have questions, PM me. I grew up in Alaska. And I've crossed the country (and ridden the Trans-Lab in Canada) on the 599. Never ridden up to Alaska though! My most important bit of advice: keep a daily log book / dairy. Even when you are miserable and tired at the end of the day, write down your impressions and riding thoughts. It's great to read through those years later, it takes you right back.
