Default Track Day

I decided to try out a track day for the first time. It was a lot of fun and the 599 held her own. I even passed an Aprilia RSV4 (although they seemed like a fairly new rider). There was a part after turn three where there was a small bump which brought the front wheel up in 2nd gear.

Here are some photos

Which track were you at?

I too was pleasantly surprised by the performance of my 599 on the track. If you’re willing to tickle the redline the 599 is a very capable track bike.

After my first track experience I upgraded my shock, which has made it even more enjoyable.

I was at Mission Raceway in British Columbia. I have an Ohlin's shock and upgraded the front forks with new springs and cartridge emulators, plus braided brakes and a couple of other things.

Post track day, I just went to a 15/45t gearing, which is probably the most noticeable performance upgrade so far. I'm still waiting for my speedo-healer to show up so that I know how fast I'm going, but she spins up much faster now.

What is your impression of the cartridge emulators on the track?

Seems good to me. I find it gets smoother the fast I go. I felt that the bike used to weave a bit at lean and now it seems very settled.

I've had them for about 5 years now and have liked them from the beginning. I also have a bit more fork oil than the recommended to make it a bit stiffer.
