Default Greetings from Indiana/Ohio

Hello,

I just bought a "New to me" 2006 Honda 599. This is my first serious street bike. I had a '97 Honda Shadow 600, Bastardized DR650 that didn't even look like a DR650, & a stock DRZ400 that I just sold yesterday.

Turned around and bought a stock 2006 Honda 599 with under 10k miles for $2500. Guy I bought it from was an older gentleman who had it for a year (second owner) and took good care of it. Came with manual, original toolkit, & even found a hex set in the boot.

Also, came with a Givi screen attached.

Upon getting home I noticed that there was some bondo on the right front blinker bracket so I am thinking of replacing the entire right headlight bracket. Anyone know costs or if they sell this individually? I think I would prefer to get rid of the Givi screen so realized I need smaller bolts as the new ones are too long and will protrude into the headlight itself.

Here are some pics from the CL ad itself as I have only had it a few hours and it is already too dark for some good pictures.

Bikebandit.com has all sorts of OEM parts, there’s another site that gets mentioned often too but I don’t recall the url or name at the moment.

Something like Jason’s...

I found on the website what I am looking for, Item #19. But It doesn't show it can be bought...

I also found it on eBay, but it was over $200! Is there not a cheaper new one out there? Could I go to aftermarket Bracket and replace both with different lights? Would I have to replace the whole headlight as well?

Here is the eBay link:

Ouch, those don’t show up very often.

Sometimes I search eBay UK for the hard to find parts. It’s not always economical but they have more options than we do.

There was a guy on the forum considering parting out his bike. He posted recently which leads me to believe that you might have some luck tracking him down.

I’d also try wristtwisters.com

I am trying to update my headlight to something I like better and as a result have replaced those very parts on my bike. Unfortunately for you I keep all my stock bits so they are not for sale.

The stock headlight and my cb500x blinkers fit just fine on the aftermarket brackets.

If you go that route make sure to get brackets that are large enough for the USD fork tubes on the ‘06.

If I recall they require 48mm but I’ll double check over the weekend.

Yeah I am going to just JB Weld it. But, if I ever want to get a new piece Iíll search around for the right price. Appreciate the help! Enjoying the hell out of it!

Welcome, Mix - nice bike, looks good! And, $2500 is an amazing price, man!

I use Partzilla for OEM stuff, they seem to be slightly cheaper than everywhere else.

https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/ho...-599/headlight

The part you're looking for is #25. #s 19 and 20 correspond to the brackets for the 2004 model. The headlight for our 2006 model is a little weird as it uses two connections/bulbs for normal/brights, with the bright function turning on both bulbs at once. I don't think I've seen this configuration (round/two bulbs) come stock in any other bike so far.

So, new/shipped from Partzilla would run you about $50 ... Add about $10(wow!) for 4x #28 if you want to remove the GIVI screen. You could use the spacers that come w/ the GIVI?

If I remember correctly, these brackets require the removal of the forks to get to, so might be a PITA if you don't have a front stand.

BTW, you got any pics of your DR? I got a 96 w/ the intention of making a scrambler build, but I've recently figured that, after nearly a year of not riding it very far, this project needs more time than I currently have.

She looks pretty nice for a 20-year old bike, though!
