bought a set of these stands, I opted for the regular rear stand, not the forward facing stand, very easy to use.

My stands arived today. Life is good! Like an idiot I've been trying to clean the wheels all these years without them. I purchased DMP s-spec front and rear stands from Competition Accessories. (HEAD LIFT) The bike is up in the air and super stable. I spent a WHILE cleaning my chain today. I took off the left rear set and chain guard and counter shaft cover to get to the gook. You know the shop won't put this much effort into it. Changed the erl as well. I think I'll leave it on the stands and do the plugs tomorrow. (11,000 miles) I got the Iridiums.

I still can't get my front stand to work. I must be some kind of moron. I mean, I can draw a wall section but can't figure out the simple physics of a front stand. Pin-into-yoke, work forward, press down. It goes up, slides back, and then out from underneath. If I try to work it any farther forward toward the motor I will break my fender.

...have you tried pulling the 4 screws out of the fender to let it float & allow more room? I know I have to pull out the front two screws on my fender to prevent the Pitt Bull stand from scraping mine.

Yeah I tried that actually... no dice. I worked into there so far that it was flexing my loose fender pretty badly and I was getting worried about the paint. I had a towel there of course, but it was bending pretty hard.

I think the stand is just too tall. If I straighten it out, the wheel is like 5-6 inches off the ground... before the stand slides out. I'm posing my modification theory in another stand thread so I don't muck up this one.

Dude you obviously have the wrong front stand for your bike. See if you can return it for the right one.

I bought it used... so I'm stuck with it, or I have to go through the hassle of trying to sell it and buying another one. I can modify this one for free. If it doesn't work, well... I'm no worse off than I am now.

But if you screw up the modification, you could drop the bike and how much could that cost ?? Sometimes its best to just bite the bullet and get the right one and sell the one you have. Trust me.

Sounds like the pin is way too small. If it's a Pit Bull, they make different pins. If not, you need to make a pin that almost fits snugly and slides a good 2" or so into the hole..

Yeah I got it, and the pin was way too small. I sold the LP stands because I didn't have the right pin and no replacements and no way to get a replacement. Bought Pit Bulls. Done deal.

Pitbull stands are sweet, hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.
