Default Spark Plugs after 35k Miles, Issues?

I realize that my spark plugs were long overdue, but I wasn't noticing any issues with my bike so I let them ride. This weekend I finally replaced the plugs and this is how they looked after 35,000 miles.

I replaced them with NGK CR9EHIX-9 Iridium IX Spark Plugs from Amazon for about $8 and change each. It's been raining all weekend in the northeast so I haven't really tried them out yet to see if I notice any performance differences.

Any cause for concern from the plugs? I know they're kind of dark, but they ARE 12 years old with 35,000 miles of wear on them.

Hornets tend to like bog standard NGKs and such if I remember, as per the ones fitted. Iridiums don't seem to improve things from what I have read, and they appear sometimes to be the culprit of cold starting problems. This is just from reading the experiences of others. YMMV. Let us know what you find.

Regarding the old plugs, it would be easier if you could see the insulators at the bottom of the plug, end on. But from what I can see, they look a little sooty, so perhaps running a little rich, or it's been cold where you are and you've been using the choke.

I can't see electrodes on the picture you attached.
Thread color? Not important.

It's difficult to get a decent angle, but to me, the condition varies.

Edit: I haven't updated this thread yet because it has rained everyday since I posted this. I did a twisty/aggressive-focused ride from Philly to Lock Haven on a non-direct route this weekend and didn't notice a performance issue and I had no problems with the spark plugs. The mpg is tough to gauge since the riding was outside of my normal everyday riding. Will update after I get a full tank in with normal riding.

Glad the iridiums work for you. I've tried them twice and each time the bike ran terribly. There must be some unknown factor at work here if they work for you but not for me. Regardless, you should keep the old ones around and to swap back in if you ever need to troubleshoot engine problems.
